Artfund100 - Celebrating 100 years of the National Art Collections Fund
  Back to Home Page
Go to ArtFund 100 web siteThe Art Fund has supported public collections throughout the UK since 1903, helping them to buy works of every kind. An independent charity financed by its members, it has backed almost half a million acquisitions, from Old Masters to contemporary pieces - an average of one work of art every two hours.

In 2003, the Art Fund celebrated its centenary. As well as a spectacular autumn exhibition at the Hayward Gallery of great art it has supported, there will be major exhibitions, concerts and events throughout the UK. For details of these and other events in the year-long celebration, visit www.artfund100.org.

To celebrate this centenary, the Ashmolean has produced a trail to take you around the highlights of the acquisitions the Art Fund has helped make possible. It is available from the Friends Desk at the Museum. Go to a preview of the objects highlighted on the trail.

Full list of all the objects the Art Fund has generously helped the Ashmolean to acquire. There are occasional discrepancies between the Museum's year of accession and the NACF list. This is generally due to administrative delays.
