T. Schroder (2009), no. 148
This vessel belongs to a small group by Hillan dating from between 1738 and 1740, all with a very similar range of ornament. On this example, the cow and calf motif clearly imply its function as a cream boat, although it has also been suggested that the design represents the legend of Zeus and Io.
Information derived from T. Schroder, British and Continental Gold and Silver in the Ashmolean (2009)
