Senta

Senta German received her BA from Temple University (Honors, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and took her MA, MPhil and PhD at Columbia University in Aegean, Greek and Ancient Near Eastern archaeology and art. She has over fifteen years excavation and materials study experience in North American, Europe and Asia. Her scholarship explores the intersection of art and ancient Greek society with specific attention to performance, gender and the impacts of the illicit antiquities trade and forgeries in the study of history. She has taught at a wide range of American institutions including Columbia University, New York University, Hope College, Rutgers University and most recently as Associate Professor of Classics and Art History at Montclair State University.

She has served on the Board of SAFE/Saving Antiquities for Everyone and is Contributing Editor for Western Ancient Art and the Ancient Near East for SmartHistory.org/Khan Academy. Her extra-academic work includes projects for The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, ArtNet.com, EDventure Holdings, and serving as personal archivist for Diana Ross.
