The Ashmolean warmly welcomes families. There is plenty to see and do, with exciting galleries as well as trails to help you explore the museum. We also have a vibrant and creative programme of free family activities.
Families Activity Station
Pick up sketching materials and explore the Museum with our trails, activity bags and simple make-and–takes.

Many of our temporary displays are free for all, and our ticketed exhibitions are free for Under 12s. Our current ticketed exhibition is Titian to Canaletto: Drawing in Venice.

Handle historical coins from different times and places, with the help of our volunteer team, 11.30am-3.30pm every Saturday.

Celebrate the winter landscape with snow flake pictures, foamy fun and a wintry gallery tour.
Time for Tea
Saturday 9 January, 1–4pm
Ever tried green tea? Make a Japanese-inspired tea-cup, and find out all about the Japanese tea ceremony, with stories and real tea ceremonies throughout the afternoon.

Big or Small?

Search the museum for our largest and tiniest objects, with stories, songs and activities.
All family events are free, with a suggested donation £1 per child.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all events.
