We are proud to be an accessible venue. Our services and facilities allow all visitors to have a meaningful experience in the museum. Our front entrance, public galleries, restaurant and café are fully accessible. We have various processes in place, including wheelchair hire, to make the museum visit as enjoyable as possible for those with additional needs.
There are nine designated Blue Badge parking spaces within easy reach of the museum: three spaces directly outside the museum, three more opposite the museum close to the Randolph Hotel, two spaces on St Giles' and one space on St John's Street.
These are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. It is possible to park in council offices and hire a mobility scooter from their offices.
GETTING AROUND THE MUSEUM
There are lifts to all floors, and step-free access to shop, toilets, the café and the restaurant.
Wheelchairs are available to hire from our information desk; booking is recommended.
Admission to the Ashmolean is free, but we do charge for special exhibitions. Companions and carers get into these exhibitions free.
There are three accessible toilets in the building: one on the fourth floor, and two in the basement. You may want to download our floor plan (with accessible toilets marked) in advance.
We welcome people with assistance dogs. You can obtain water and a bowl for the dogs in the café on the Lower Ground Floor – just ask and our staff will be happy to help.
We run a number of events specifically tailed for visitors with additional needs.
