Tradescant Patrons Group

Founded in 2003, the Tradescant Patrons are named after John Tradescant the Elder, the 16th-century royal gardener whose 'Ark of Curiosities' at Lambeth formed the basis of the Ashmolean collections.

Tradescant Patrons are invited to a select programme of activities including private evenings, handling sessions and visits to collections further afield.

For those who want an even more in-depth experience there is the annual Tradescant Study Day which brings Ashmolean experts together with those from other leading institutions to investigate a different topic each year.

The annual subscription to the Tradescants is £150 for an individual or £250 for a joint membership. This entitles members to benefits including:

  • Invitations to Patrons events and programmes including private evenings, handling sessions and visits to collections further afield.
  • Free entry to all special exhibitions and invitations to private views.
  • The Ashmolean Magazine.
  • A complimentary publication.
  • A 10% discount in both the Museum Shop, Café and the Ashmolean Dining Room.
