With the help of award-winning architect Rick Mather we have devised an innovative redevelopment plan that will transform the Ashmolean.

A stunning new building will replace all but the original 1845 Cockerell building. Arranged over five floors with level access and clear routes throughout, the building will provide:
- 39 new galleries
- 100% more display space
- a purpose-built Education Centre
- state-of-the-art conservation facilities
- advanced environmental controls
- 3 new Study Centres with hands-on access to reserve collections
- extensive temporary exhibition galleries
- direct access to the Cast Gallery
- a rooftop restaurant
- extensive climate-controlled storage
- a dedicated service entrance and loading bay
- additional office space
