Star tile with vegetal and calligraphic decoration
This tile comes from a set of cross and star-tiles made for the Shrine of Imamzada Yahya in Varamin, Iran. The word imamzada is found in the Persian, Azerbaijani, and Urdu languages and refers to an immediate descendant of a Shi'i Imam. Shrines of Imamzada are often centres of Shi’i devotion and pilgrimage and, as such, they are also believed to have miraculous and healing properties.
