Star tile with vegetal and calligraphic decoration
This tile comes from a set of cross and star-tiles made for the Shrine of Imamzada Yahya in Varamin, Iran. Imamzada is a word found in the Persian, Azerbaijani, and Urdu languages, that refers to an immediate descendant of a Shi'i Imam. Shrine's of Imamzada are used as centers of Shi’i devotion and pilgrimages. These shrine-tombs are also believed to have miraculous properties and the ability to heal.
