ONLINE PRINT ROOM VISIT: GUERCINO DRAWINGS AT THE ASHMOLEAN

With Dr Rachel Boyd, Getty Paper Project Research Fellow at the Ashmolean

Guercino (1591–1666) was one of the most talented painters of Baroque Italy. A prolific and versatile draughtsman, he used paper, pen, ink, and chalks to explore compositional ideas, to study the human body, and to draw charming genre scenes and caricatures. The Ashmolean holds an exceptional collection of over 80 drawings by Guercino and his school. This talk will introduce you to Guercino’s work on paper, focusing on a selection of drawings spanning nearly his entire career.

The event will take place online on Zoom and a link to join the event will be shared in advance by email.
