GERTRUDE HERMES: CALL OF THE WILD

One of the most innovative wood engravers of her generation, Gertrude Hermes (1901–1983) drew much of her inspiration from nature.

This talk will explore Hermes’s fascination with water, birds, flowers and fish, demonstrating the creative evolution of her work from preliminary sketch and carved woodblock through to final print.
