With Dr Robin Wilson, Director at Oxford University Kilns & Dr Clare Pollard, Curator of Japanese Art at the Ashmolean Museum.
Take this unique opportunity to explore the wood-fired Japanese ceramics kilns at Wytham Woods, the research woodlands of Oxford University.
The team of potters and academics led by Dr Robin Wilson look forward to welcoming you to the kilns site to explore the ancient practice of wood-firing ceramics, where you can take part in a Japanese tea ceremony. The kilns will be in action, mid-firing with a team of potters stoking the firebox.
Dr Robin Wilson will explain the special nature of pottery produced in this unusual manner. Dr Clare Pollard will discuss the tea ceremony, which Miyuki Arimura will be performing.
