PRINCIPLES OF DRAWING

Virtual Event – Join us Online

With Weimin He, Artist-in-residence, Green Templeton College

Join Weimin He to learn how to analyse and draw the anatomical and structural forms of the head and foreshortened hands, using Raphael’s ‘Studies of Two Apostles for the ‘Transfiguration’ as your example.

Drawings by great master draftsmen such as Michelangelo, Raphael and Rubens have been regarded for centuries, as the best examples of art for people to study.

However, it is not enough to simply copy the master drawings, you also need to understand their innate knowledge of human form and visual vocabularies.

Weimin He, the artist-in-residence of the Green Templeton College and life-drawing tutor of the Ruskin School, will help you to investigate the concepts and skills of the great masters’ drawings and reveal the hidden principles which underpinned their
work.

This workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced levels.

Materials you will need:

  • A3/A2 sketchbook or papers
  • Two or more 2B – 6B pencils
  • A kneadable eraser
  • A sharpener

This workshop is part of a series. Scroll further down this page to view the other events. Each must be booked separately.
