Housed in the remains of Charles II’s sporting palace, the Palace House Museum is home to the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art. This site in central Newmarket comprises the National Horseracing Museum (opened in 2016), a National Art Gallery of British Sporting Art, and there is a chance to meet former racehorses going through the Retraining Racehorses programme in the adjoining flagship stable block. After refreshments on arrival you will have several hours to explore Palace House at your own pace. There is a Café-Restaurant.

Access: The Centre is self-contained but there is walking out of doors between its component parts. Mobility lifts exist in buildings; mobility buggies are not available.
