May Morris Embroidery Workshop

Working in wools on a linen ground in the style of the Arts and Crafts designer May Morris, students will stitch a botanical motif from the Museum’s collection of her work, suitable for a small cushion cover.

3 Day Art Course
The London Group

Friday 23 September, 7 October & 21 October, 12.30–2.30pm, Lecture Theatre
Explore the work of artists from the London Group in this three-session course, from the early days of the group in 1913‒14, the period of the First World War and during the 1920s. Artists you will study include Robert Bevan, Walter Sickert, Richard Nevinson, Paul Nash, Mark Gertler, Roger Fry and Vanessa Bell.

Stormy Seas and Shipwrecks Workshop

Inspired by spectacular treasures from the Sicilian seas, you will learn essential techniques to create a dramatic seascape using charcoal under painting and layers of soft pastels. This workshop includes a sketching session in the exhibition. All abilities welcome.

Explore a wide range of media from coloured pencils to collage in this four-session sketchbook course. Get to know the Ashmolean collections with artist-focused tours, talks and tutor-led demonstrations. Develop your own individual creative approach with support from the course tutor. All abilities welcome.
