Study Room Visits
The Ashmolean is home to over 1 milion remarkable objects and works of art - only a fraction of which can go on display at any one time. The Museum's Study Rooms are open to visitors throughout the week to see works not currently on display, but why not try one of these special sessions to introduce you to the departmental study rooms?

This two-day workshop will show you how to make an enamelled silver pendant. On day-1 you will study Anglo-Saxon jewellery in the Museum's study collections. On day-2 you will design and make your own pendant using facilities at Oxford's St Edward's School to fire a vitreous enamel decoration.

Taking the Adhmolean's 19th and 20th-century paintings as a starting point, this workshop will give you an insight into the meanings, contexts and artistic processes of modern painting. The day includes discussion in front of the works - focusing on Ivon Hitchens; a seminar; and a drawing and painting session where you will be given practical help with your work.
