Fang Zhaoling: A Centenary Exhibition

The autumn exhibition in the Ashmolean’s Chinese Paintings Gallery commemorates the life of Fang Zhaoling (1914–2006). Drawn from private collections, including the Fang family collection, many of the works are on display for the first time in public.

Russian Art at the Ashmolean Museum

The Ashmolean is home to an important collection of Russian art that, for conservation reasons, cannot be displayed permanently. William Blake: Apprentice and Master

A major exhibition on the work of William Blake (1757–1827), printmaker, painter and revolutionary poet of the prophetic books. The exhibition also explores how Blake looked back to the master artist-printmakers at the beginnings of the Renaissance, and how he inspired and guided the young artist-printmakers who gathered around him in the last years of his life, Samuel Palmer, George Richmond and Edward Calvert.

Hiroshige's Japan: Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō Road

Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858) was one of the great masters of the Japanese landscape print and his most famous series was the Fifty-three Stages of the Tōkaidō Road, first published in 1833.
