Approximately 22,000 visitors came from far and wide to visit the Ashmolean in a special public weekend opening. Laurel and Nathan Bossen from Montreal, Canada, were the first visitors to enter the new front doors at the main entrance, as they opened for the first time to the public. Vistors continued to stream through the doors throughout the weekend to explore the 39 new galleries in the new building, designed by award-winning architect Rick Mather.
