Ashmolean wins New Building award
The Oxford Preservation Trust’s annual Awards scheme recognises projects that make a significant contribution to the conservation and improvement of the built or natural environment of Oxford and its green setting. 5 plaques and 4 Certificates were awarded across the four categories of Building Conservation, New Buildings, Small Projects and Landscape.
Plaques were awarded to Ivydene, 17 Iffley Road (Conservation), Wheatley Windmill (Conservation), the Martyrs Pavilion St Edwards School (New Building), Ashmolean (New Building), and the of Replacement of the Stone Grotesques on the Bodleian Library (Small Projects). Certificates were awarded to the Manor House, Dorchester (Conservation), Holywell Music Room (Conservation), St John's College Sport Ground Pavilion (Conservation) and Lucas and Remy Place, Iffley (New Building).
This year saw the introduction of a new category of Community Projects to recognise the contribution that buildings and landscape can make to people and their area. Plaques were awarded to Barracks Lane Community Garden and Kidlington Wildlife Garden with Letters of Commendation being given to Donnington Doorstep Family Centre and East Oxford Life Long Learning Centre
