Ashmolean in longlist for Telegraph Family Friendly Award
The Ashmolean is delighted to have made the longlist for the 2014 Telegraph Family Friendly Museum Award.
The only museum award to be judged by families this year received more than 800 nominations. We are delighted to have now made the top 20 and would like to thank all those who nominated the Ashmolean Museum, as well as everyone who has taken part in family activities with us this year.
The Telegraph Family Friendly Museum Award is organised by Kids In Museums, an independent charity dedicated to making museums open and welcoming to all families, in particular those who havenít visited before.
The 20 longlisted museums will now be presented to a panel of experts, including celebrity childrenís author Damian Dibben, Game of Thrones actress Hannah Murray and historian and author Helen Castor. The panel is chaired by Dame Jenny Abramsky, Chair of the Heritage Lottery Fund. These experts will pick a shortlist in July, and the museums will be 'road-tested' anonymously by families, using the Kids in Museums Manifesto as a guide to their family friendliness.
