Professor Christopher Brown, Director of the Ashmolean Museum, will be awarded the Freedom of the City of Oxford, to mark his retirement later this year.
Our new contemporary art exhibition 'Joseph Beuys & Jörg Immendorff: Art Belongs To The People!' is now open in Gallery 2. Admission is free.
The Ashmolean is delighted to announce the next exhibition in its new programme of post-war and contemporary art.
The Ashmolean has acquired a painting of Venice by Francesco Guardi dated 1758. The acquisition has been made possible by the Arts Council England under the Acceptance in Lieu of Inheritance scheme, together with a generous grant from the Art Fund.
