  The Metrological Relief
  What was its purpose?
  The Metrological Relief (a000103)
  • Scholars disagree as to the use to which our relief was put. Some have held that it was set up in a market place so that people could check standard units of measurement. The more widely accepted view is that it was set up over the colonnaded portico of an official weights and measures office. We hear of officials called Agoranomoi, or clerks of the market.
