Origin: Northern Europe

Date: First half 17th century

8.7 cm length

Bequeathed by C.D.E. Fortnum, 1899; WA1899.CDEF.V412

T. Schroder (2009), no. 548

The equestrian figure on the handle carries a horn and is wearing sixteenth-century costume. The name 'I A * CROMHOVT*' engraved around the ferrule is probably of Netherlandish origin.

Information derived from T. Schroder, British and Continental Gold and Silver in the Ashmolean (2009)
