Geoffrey Hedley (d. 1958) worked for the British Council from 1945 until his death, mostly in Asia. He was responsible for the Shanghai office from 1946 until 1952. During this time, he formed a remarkable collection of Chinese paintings, most of which he bequeathed to Khoan and Michael Sullivan, which were displayed at the Ashmolean in 2002.
