Work Experience & Volunteering

The Ashmolean Museum is one of seven Oxford University museums and collections. We receive a large number of enquiries about work experience, work placements and voluntary opportunities within the Museum. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate any further work placements until autumn 2014. Education Officer: Secondary & Young People

Salary Grade 6: £27,057 - £32,277 p.a. Full time
1 year fixed term contract (externally funded)

We are looking for a creative, skilled and experienced museum educator to develop, deliver and evaluate high quality learning programmes for secondary age students and teachers inspired by the Ashmolean’s collections.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have experience of developing and delivering programmes for secondary age pupils and teachers in a museum setting. You will also have experience of facilitating informal learning projects inspired by museum collections for young people.

You will be an effective and warm communicator with knowledge and understanding of learning from objects and how museums can support formal and informal learning.

You’ll be well-organised, professional and flexible, with the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.

Senior Development Executive

Salary Grade 8 : £38,511 - £45,954 p.a. Full time
Fixed-term contract (3 years)

The Ashmolean Museum is seeking a highly effective Senior Development Executive to identify and cultivate major donors, develop long-term successful relationships with key individuals, and to work towards securing substantial donations for the Museum, in support of its ambitious new endowment campaign

An experienced major gifts fundraiser, you will be highly motivated, target driven and able to think creatively. You will be a keen networker, with outstanding communication skills and key strengths in relationship building, proposal writing, making presentations, planning and negotiating.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a fundraising professional to make a significant contribution to the future of this world-class museum within the University of Oxford.

The role will be appointed on a fixed term contract for 3 years.
