Meet at the Welcome Desk in the Museum
With Dr Tea Ghigo, Lecturer in the History of Art, Materials and Technology at UCL
On this fascinating tour, Dr Ghigo will guide your through objects made predominantly with blue pigments. This focus on intriguing 'blue' artworks in our collections and galleries marks our Colour Revolution exhibition.
From antiquity to modern times and from indigo to Prussian blue, you'll encounter Western paintings, Asian textiles, Japanese prints and Islamic ceramics. You'll learn more about the manufacture of the colour blue and discover plants and minerals historically used to obtain various shades of it.
This is a unique chance to experience the collections differently and engage with the history of materials and making.
