Conserving our objects
This delicate study for Raphael’s Resurrection of Christ has recently undergone expert conservation to preserve its fine lines and subtle shading, revealing the artist’s creative process in remarkable detail.
As a key focus of a major research project at the Ashmolean, the drawing is soon to travel to New York as part of a series of loans to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for their landmark 2026 Raphael exhibition.

In February, the Ashmolean was once again alive with colour, music, and stories as communities from across Oxfordshire came together for our annual One World Family Festival.
