With Dr Anja Ulbrich, A.G. Leventis Curator of the Ashmolean's Cypriot Collection, Art and Archaeology

The Ashmolean's exhibition, Aphrodite: The Making of a Goddess, explores one of the ancient world's most enduring cultural icons.

Join the exhibition’s curator Anja Ulbrich to uncover some of the show's highlights, and to understand the remarkable story of how a goddess worshipped in ancient Cyprus has became one of the most enduring and recognisable figures in human history.

Bringing together archaeology, sculpture, painting, contemporary art and fashion, the exhibition traces Aphrodite’s journey and transformations from her earliest origins in the eastern Mediterranean, through the ancient Greek and Roman worlds, via Renaissance Europe, to our continuing fascination with her today. .
