In this first talk in our Love on Paper series, we will examine drawings from the Pre-Raphaelites to the Bloomsbury Group, and into the 20th century to explore the diverse ways these artists depicted love and romance.

From Edward Burne-Jones’s heart-breaking drawings of Orpheus and Eurydice and Edna Clarke Hall’s obsession with Wuthering Heights to portraits of lovers as varied as Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s drawing of his wife Elizabeth Siddal, Duncan Grant’s nudes, and Frank Auerbach’s striking heads, get up close to these intimate works on paper and their creators.
