Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898) was one of our most accomplished painters and designers. In partnership with his friend William Morris he worked in every kind of medium, including textiles, mosaic, jewellery and stained glass.
Design for stained glass in Lyndhurst Church
He was perhaps the UK's most prolific and influential designer of stained-glass windows, creating many thousands of designs for windows in churches, chapels and houses across the country and beyond.
In this talk Anna Eavis, Chief Executive of the Oxford Preservation Trust, will consider Burne-Jones' development as a stained-glass designer, using examples of his work in Oxford (Christ Church Cathedral, St Edmund's Hall, Harris Manchester Chapel) and drawings from the Ashmolean's collections.
