With artist Martin Beek and musician Ben Avison
The session will begin with a short talk on ‘automatic drawing’ – the method of expressing the subconscious by allowing the hand to draw freeform, initiated by the Surrealists – and will also discuss paper-cutting and collage techniques from contemporary artists.
You can then use these techniques to respond to the songs of Radiohead from their albums ‘OK Computer’, ‘The Bends’ and ‘Pablo Honey’. In the workshop, you will be encouraged to experiment using a variety of materials.
Martin (artist) and Ben (musician) will explore the relationship between music and visual expression, and document these experimental works whilst in progress, to share at the end of the day.
