With Jevon Thistlewood, Ashmolean Conservator of Paintings

Often, when we are presented with paintings and we view them on display or see them in reproduction, there are parts to them that we do not see. Behind, under and inside these artworks there can be stories that only a few will ever be aware of.

Left: The Annunciation attributed to Renaissance Master Paolo Uccello on display in the Museum. Right a small detail of the painting revealing drawn lines only visible on intra red camera

Join Jevon Thistlewood, the Ashmolean’s Conservator of Paintings, for a glimpse into this world and discover some of the secrets of the Ashmolean’s collection.

Jevon’s talk will be illustrated with paintings from the Ashmolean’s Western Art Department, both on display and behind the scenes.
