Works on display here show a selection of the Museum’s growing collection of modern art, featuring works by major artists of the 20th century. It charts a period when representational or figurative art was challenged by artists experimenting in abstract art.
The Modern Art Gallery remains open this summer, but the Walter Sickert, Pre-Raphaelites, Pissarro and 19th-Century Art will be closed, see below.
Four popular Western Art galleries on the Level 3 Mezzanine will close for essential work this summer: Sickert & his Contemporaries (Gallery 63), Pissarro (Gallery 65), Pre-Raphaelites (Gallery 66) and the 19th Century Art (Gallery 67).
We appreciate your patience while we improve the environment in the galleries for the long term.
All these galleries are closed from 1 Jun – 12 Sep for essential work
