Two lead strikings using Late Saxon and Norman coins dies

Naylor J

Publication of two lead objects struck with coin dies, one of a penny of Cnut (1016-35), the other of William I (1066-87). It is argued that at least one of these may have acted as some form of customs receipt. The article was published as part of the 'Portable Antiquities Scheme Report' in the 'Medieval Britain and Ireland in 2019' section of the journal Medieval Archaeology.
