With Asma Hashmi, print-maker
A hands-on printmaking workshop exploring blind embossing using an etching press, a technique that creates raised, textured designs on paper without using ink.
This workshop follows the popularity of previous shorter sessions and will offer participants more time to experiment, refine ideas, and explore a wider range of approaches to blind embossing.
Using an etching press, you will press designs into thick, dampened paper, creating beautifully tactile impressions that play with light and shadow. As you learn and practise the technique, you will be producing a series of richly textured prints while discovering how light, shadow and relief can transform paper into expressive works of art.
Inspired by objects and images from the Museum's collections, you will be creating your own embossed prints using simple materials such as textured objects, stencils and hand-cut shapes.
Etching press, prints and stencils demonstrating the process
No prior experience is needed, just a willingness to experiment with texture, form and the creative possibilities of printmaking.
This event is part of our Love & Legacy season of events.
