Museum admission is free. Walk-up tickets are now available on the door, but to guarantee entry at busy times, and to avoid waiting, booking tickets in advance is recommended. Booking is essential for our major exhibition.

The Ashmolean is maintaining Covid-secure measures to prioritise the safety of our visitors and staff. So that we can all enjoy the collections safely, you will notice a number of changes at the Museum.

TICKETING
Entry to the Museum is free but pre-booking is recommended to guarantee entry at busy times and to save time on arrival, but is not essential.

FACE COVERINGS / MASKS
Visitors and our staff may continue to wear face coverings if it makes them feel comfortable.

SOCIAL DISTANCING
There are no longer any special recommendations for social distancing.

CLEANING & HYGIENE
We maintain regular cleaning regimes and there are sanitisation points throughout the Museum.

ACCESS & FACILITIES
Our lifts, toilets and cloakrooms are all open as normal.

TEMPORARY GALLERY CLOSURES
Essential Gallery Maintenance
1 Mar – 31 Jul
From March to July 2023 we will be carrying out essential gallery and showcase maintenance work that may require galleries to be closed. No galleries will be closed during school holidays, and we will be keeping closures to a minimum, but we apologise for any disruption or disappointment any essential closures may cause.
Gallery closures on Sat 1 Apr afternoon
The European Art Gallery 44, 2nd floor will close early at 3.30pm
The Pissarro Gallery 65, Pre-Raphaelites Gallery 66 and 19th-Century Art Gallery 67, on the 3rd floor mezzanine, will all close early at 4.15pm
