DISCOVERING TUTANKHAMUN

‘At last have made wonderful discovery in Valley a magnificent tomb with seals intact…’
Howard Carter’s telegram to Lord Carnarvon on 5 November 1922

Our 2014 summer exhibition Discovering Tutankhamun told the story of one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. We explored the hunt for the tomb and the thrill of its discovery, and showed Howard Carter’s original records, drawings and photographs.

The exhibition was open at the Ashmolean Museum 24 July – 2 November 2014.
