Do I need to pre-book?
We strongly recommend you pre-book your exhibition and event tickets to avoid disappointment.
When are peak/busy exhibition times?
Peak times are weekends and from 3pm onwards on weekdays. If you are planning to visit at a peak time, then advance booking is recommended.
What’s the best way to buy tickets for an exhibition?
We recommend you book your tickets online using the links above. Our telephone line can get very busy so we recommend you book online to avoid waiting. You can also buy tickets at the museum, on the day of your visit, if the exhibition has not already sold out for a time slot.
Will I receive tickets in the post?
No, you will receive your tickets attached to a confirmation email shortly after completing your online booking. Please print your tickets and present them at the exhibition entrance, or show them on a mobile phone. Entry cannot be guaranteed if tickets are not presented.
What if I can’t find my booking email?
Please check your spam/junk folders. If you still cannot find your booking email, please email us before your visit so we can help resolve the issue. Our ticketing email address is: email@example.com
Are the exhibitions accessible?
Yes. Access to the exhibition is via lift and the entire exhibition is wheelchair accessible with handheld labels available.
Who can enter exhibitions for free?
Entry to exhibitions is free for children under 12, Ashmolean Members and University of Oxford students. No tickets need to be purchased in advance for those who are granted free entry. Members must show their membership card at the exhibition entrance, and University of Oxford students must show their student card.
Who can purchase a concession ticket?
For exhibition tickets: Concession exhibition tickets are available for University of Oxford staff and alumni, over 65s and those who are unemployed are eligible for concession tickets. All non-Oxford University students, children aged 12–17, and Art Fund Members may purchase half price tickets.
For event tickets (talks/courses/tours): The above list applies. Ashmolean Members are also eligible for concession tickets for events.
I am a Friend/Member of the Museum, can I bring a guest?
Ashmolean Membership only covers entry for yourself and any other named members if you hold a joint membership. You will need to purchase a ticket for any guests. To avoid queueing at the ticket desk on the day, or long waiting times for telephone bookings, we strongly recommend you book in advance online.
How can I contact the museum?
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org before your visit so we can help you with any ticketing issues. Our telephone line can get very busy and we are not always able to respond to messages on the same day.
